Description: The organization tests sanitization equipment and procedures every 180 days to verify that the intended sanitization is being achieved.
Requirements: Azure uses data erasure units and processes to sanitize data in compliance with NIST SP 800-88 Revision 1 prior to being reused}. Every one hundred and eighty (180) days, the Cyber Defense Operations Center (CDOC) tests the Azure data erasure units and the process for erasure. In the test, Cloud Operations + Innovation Engineering (CO + IE) verifies that the intended sanitization is being achieved through a forensic analysis of tested hard drives to confirm that the data has been sanitized by the data erasure units.
