Description: Microsoft recommends that your organization implement an incident handling capability for your organization's security incidents and insider threats that includes preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery to provide appropriate and timely responses. It is recommended that your organization identify classes of incidents and take appropriate actions in response to identified classes. It is recommended that your organization implement processes that enable you to determine when a personal data breach has occurred. Incident related information may be obtained from different sources including, but not limited to, audit monitoring, network monitoring, physical access monitoring, and user/administrator reports. Your organization should consider creating and maintaining Security Incident Response policies and standard operating procedures to be followed by your organization's incident handling capability. For continual improvement to existing incident management processes, your organization should also consider tracking and documenting information systems incidents, including procedures for documenting a post-incident report and conducting a lessons-learned review after each incident. Your organization may also collaborate with external organizations to gain a cross- organizational perspective on incident awareness and more successful responses to incidents. We recommend that your organization collect and retain evidence where a follow-up action against a person or an organization after an information security incident involves legal action. Microsoft also recommends that your organization include dynamic reconfiguration as part of your incident response capability, such as changes to access control lists or to intrusion detection/prevention system parameters, among others. This can enable your organization to prevent attacks and/or isolate system components. The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy requires your organization to include requirements for mobile device operating scenarios incidents that include preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery
